Charlie Clinton
Lib Dem Candidate for Holborn & St Pancras

Our country needs change – and it needs hope.

We have been in a downward spiral for too long, with nothing but sticking plaster policies from the two largest parties. The Conservatives are lurching from crisis to crisis, attempting to create positive PR stories from minimal substance. The Labour party have acknowledged the system is broken – but won’t commit to fixing the most fundamental part of that system.

I’m standing for Holborn & St Pancras because I believe there is another way: I believe we can create a brighter future for everyone if we can:

  1. Fix Politics: We can create a fairer democracy where everyone’s voice is heard. First, by bringing Proportional Representation to the House of Commons, enabling more balanced policy making fit for the 21st century; but also by devolving more power to local councils and federalising the Union, allowing all parts of the country to thrive.
  2. Fix Britain: Many of todays challenges in public services and our economy can be solved with the smart, responsible, application of technology. We must ride the wave of new tech that is breaking over us to deliver greater productivity across the board. To do otherwise is to choose the path of Blockbuster: obsolescence.
  3. Fix the Planet: As we fix the country, we can also ensure a safer future for ourselves, our children and the planet through a rapid transition to Net Zero. Specifically as we need to rewire our economy to accelerate the drive to a greener, cleaner nation - ensuring the whole country can do well, by being green.

Combined, these shifts in our society really will create a brighter future. We can create a more tolerant society where everyone is represented & systemic inequalities are reduced; people are healthier & happier; public servants are fairly rewarded, and people in the private sector are not mistreated by their employers. It's all possible.

Below you will find more details on why these are my three priorities, but in summary: they all involve fundamentally rewiring our nation, and they cut across every policy area. These are my priorities because I want us to fix the country as a whole - not just some parts of it.
